First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tested whether an Apple Watch paired with a special app and weekly health coaching could help dementia caregivers improve their sleep and mood. Twenty-one caregivers wore the watch to track their activity and sleep, and received personalized feedback and motivational calls for six weeks. The goal was to see if this approach could reduce symptoms of depression and insomnia.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a simple, low-cost way to help dementia caregivers reduce depression and insomnia.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early study with only 21 participants and no comparison group, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention relies on self-report and motivation, which may not work for everyone.
