Doulas for the heart: new trial aims to lower blood pressure after pregnancy
NCT ID NCT05655936
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding a specially trained doula to standard care helps women who had high blood pressure during pregnancy get their blood pressure under control after giving birth. About 454 women will be randomly assigned to either usual blood pressure monitoring at home or usual care plus extra support from a heart health doula. The goal is to see if this approach improves long-term heart health and reduces racial gaps in outcomes.
