Could one blood thinner be safer than two for older heart patients?

NCT ID NCT06535568

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using just one blood thinner (single antiplatelet therapy) is safer and as effective as using two (dual antiplatelet therapy) in older adults or those at high risk of bleeding who have had a heart procedure with a drug-coated balloon. About 576 participants will be followed for 12 months to compare rates of heart problems and bleeding events. The goal is to find the best way to manage blood thinners and reduce complications in this vulnerable group.
