Summary

This study looked at how common joint pain and swelling are in 100 nursing home residents aged 65 and older, both with and without dementia. Researchers performed a physical exam and used simple pain questions or a special checklist for those with severe dementia. The goal was to find out how many residents have joint complaints and whether those complaints are properly diagnosed.
