Your eyes could reveal hidden brain disease: major study launches

NCT ID NCT03233646

First seen Feb 04, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study is looking at whether simple, non-invasive eye scans can help detect and track brain diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and multiple sclerosis. Researchers will use special cameras to take detailed pictures of the retina in 2,000 adults—both those with and without these conditions. The goal is to find early warning signs in the eye that could lead to faster diagnosis and better monitoring of neurodegenerative diseases.
