First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study looks at how artificial sweeteners (saccharin, sucralose) and a natural one (erythritol) affect heart disease risk factors in 80 adults with prediabetes. Participants will be randomly assigned to consume one sweetener or water for two weeks. Researchers will measure changes in blood sugar control, blood clotting, gut bacteria, and immune cells to see if these sweeteners are harmful.
