Summary

This study uses a smartphone app called SOMA to track daily mood, pain, and activity in 800 people with acute or chronic pain, as well as healthy volunteers, over four months. The goal is to see if daily changes in these factors can predict whether acute pain becomes chronic, or if chronic pain will improve or flare up. A smaller group will also do an in-person brain activity test to look for predictors of treatment response. This research does not test a treatment but aims to better understand pain patterns.
