First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested three different weight loss strategies in 110 adults with chronic spinal cord injury who were overweight. The strategies included portion-controlled meals, enhanced self-monitoring with technology, and a tailored lifestyle program called GLB-SCI. The goal was to see which approach works best to help this group lose weight and improve health.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
portion-controlled meals, enhanced self-monitoring, and a tailored lifestyle intervention (GLB-SCI)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward an effective, tailored weight loss program for people with spinal cord injury, improving their health and quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a completed study with 110 participants, so results are limited in size and may not apply to everyone with spinal cord injury. Weight loss interventions often show mixed long-term success.
