NCT ID NCT06007404

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at how certain immune cells, called meta-inflammatory monocytes, along with body composition and diet, may contribute to insulin resistance in adolescents. Researchers will collect blood samples and health information from 175 teens aged 14-18, including those with normal weight, overweight, obesity, or type 2 diabetes. The goal is to better understand the early steps that lead to metabolic disease, which could help develop future prevention strategies.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this research could point toward new ways to predict or prevent type 2 diabetes in teenagers.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not directly test any therapy, and results may not lead to immediate changes in care.
