Radiation breakthrough could save fertility for young cancer patients

NCT ID NCT06904365

Summary

This study is testing whether a new, precise radiation planning technique can protect the ovaries in young women (ages 18-50) receiving pelvic radiation for cancers like uterine or rectal cancer. The goal is to prevent radiation from causing early menopause, which can lead to serious heart, bone, and emotional health problems. Researchers will use computer simulations to see if they can deliver effective cancer treatment while keeping radiation doses very low to the ovaries.
