Summary

Steroid injections for knee arthritis can temporarily raise blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. This trial tests whether giving a short course of NPH insulin right after the injection can prevent those high blood sugar episodes. Adults with type 2 diabetes and knee osteoarthritis will be randomly assigned to receive either the pre-emptive insulin or their usual diabetes care. Both groups will wear continuous glucose monitors to track blood sugar levels for 72 hours after the injection, and the study will also check for low blood sugar and other side effects.
