Cancer patients may soon get immunotherapy at home instead of the clinic

NCT ID NCT06265285

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares giving the cancer drug nivolumab (Opdivo) as a shot at home versus in a clinic for people with various advanced cancers. The goal is to see if home treatment improves patients' overall care experience and quality of life. About 50 adults will receive the drug at home after initial clinic doses, and researchers will measure changes in satisfaction and comfort.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

nivolumab (Opdivo)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that giving cancer immunotherapy at home is safe and improves patients' quality of life, reducing travel and time burdens.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase pilot study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Home care may have safety or logistical challenges not seen in clinic settings.
