Dissolvable magnesium stent could revolutionize heart disease treatment
NCT ID NCT07258290
First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tests a new type of heart stent made from magnesium that slowly dissolves over time. It is designed to open blocked arteries and then disappear, potentially reducing long-term risks. About 1,859 people with coronary artery disease will receive either the new magnesium scaffold or a standard permanent stent. The main goal is to see if the magnesium device is as safe and effective at preventing heart-related problems within one year.
