First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study will collect blood samples from 30,000 adults in the UK with various health conditions, including blood clots, infections, heart disease, diabetes, and more. The samples will be used to develop and fine-tune new diagnostic tests for the cobas® lumira device, which allows doctors to test patients right at their bedside. The goal is to make monitoring health conditions quicker and easier.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could lead to faster, easier diagnostic tests that doctors can use right at the patient's bedside.

What could go wrong

This is a sample collection study, not a treatment trial. It is early-stage research focused on developing tests, so there is no direct benefit to participants and no guarantee the tests will work.
