Engineered immune cells take aim at childhood cancers in early trial

NCT ID NCT03618381

First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This early-phase study tests a personalized cell therapy for children and young adults (ages 1–30) whose solid tumors have come back or not responded to standard treatment. Researchers take a patient's own immune T cells, modify them to recognize and attack cancer cells that carry a protein called EGFR, and infuse them back. The main goals are to find the safest dose, check for side effects, and see if the modified cells can shrink tumors.
