Invasive ductal breast carcinoma
MONDO:0004953The most common type of invasive breast carcinoma, accounting for approximately 70% of breast carcinomas. The gross appearance is usually typical with an irregular stellate outline. Microscopically, randomly arranged epithelial elements are seen. When large sheets of malignant cells are present, necrosis may be seen. With adequate tissue sampling, in situ carcinoma can be demonstrated in association with the infiltrating carcinoma. The in situ component is nearly always ductal but occasionally may be lobular or both.
Also known as: infiltrating ductal adenocarcinoma, infiltrating ductal breast carcinoma, infiltrating ductal carcinoma, infiltrating ductal carcinoma of breast, infiltrating ductal carcinoma of the breast, invasive ductal adenocarcinoma, invasive ductal breast carcinoma, invasive ductal carcinoma

New short radiation regimen aims to cut side effects in breast cancer treatment
Disease control Recruiting nowThis study is testing whether a shorter, higher-dose radiation treatment (APBI) given over just three days is safe and effective for women with early-stage breast cancer or DCIS who have had a lumpectomy. The goal is to see if this approach causes fewer or milder side effects com…

Could Once-Daily radiation replace Twice-Daily for breast cancer recurrence?
Disease control Recruiting nowThis study is for women whose breast cancer has come back after initial breast-conserving surgery and whole breast radiation. The standard treatment after repeat surgery is radiation twice a day for 30 sessions. This trial tests whether giving radiation once a day for 15 sessions…

Skipping the armpit: a trial tests whether partial breast radiation alone is enough
Disease control Recruiting nowThis pilot study is testing whether partial breast irradiation alone — without first removing or sampling lymph nodes from the armpit — is safe for women age 40 and older with early-stage invasive breast cancer. All participants have had a lumpectomy but no sentinel node biopsy o…

Could freezing tumors replace surgery for some breast cancers?
Disease control Recruiting nowThis study compares a freezing technique called cryoablation to standard lumpectomy surgery in people with low-risk, early-stage breast cancer. The goal is to see if freezing the tumor offers similar disease control with fewer complications and better quality of life. About 120 p…
