Proton beam could shrink breast cancer treatment side effects

Summary
This study tests whether proton radiation, a precise type of radiation, can control early-stage breast cancer while causing fewer side effects than standard radiation. About 132 women aged 50 and older with certain types of breast cancer will receive proton therapy only to the area where the tumor was. Researchers will track cancer recurrence and quality of life to see if this approach is safe and effective.
