Precision proton beams target breast cancer with fewer side effects

Summary
This study is testing whether proton radiation therapy can effectively control early-stage breast cancer while causing fewer side effects than traditional radiation. It focuses radiation only on the area where the tumor was removed, potentially sparing healthy breast tissue. The trial will enroll 132 women over age 50 to measure cancer recurrence rates, side effects, and quality of life.
