New device zaps remaining cancer cells during breast surgery

Summary

This study tests a device called SIRA-1000 that uses heat to destroy any cancer cells left behind after a lumpectomy for breast cancer. About 10 women aged 50 and older with a specific type of breast cancer will take part. The goal is to see if the device is safe and works well at cleaning up the edges around the removed tumor.
