Summary

This pilot study is testing whether partial breast irradiation alone — without first removing or sampling lymph nodes from the armpit — is safe for women age 40 and older with early-stage invasive breast cancer. All participants have had a lumpectomy but no sentinel node biopsy or axillary dissection. The study will track how many women experience a return of cancer in the armpit lymph nodes over time.
