VR relaxation offers new hope for burn survivors battling chronic pain and itch

NCT ID NCT07317271

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a relaxation technique called progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) — done with or without virtual reality (VR) — can ease chronic symptoms like pain, itch, anxiety, and sleep problems in adult burn survivors. About 34 participants will try both VR-enhanced and standard PMR at home and report how they feel. The goal is to see if adding VR makes the relaxation more effective and practical for daily use.
