Can a simple eye scan reveal hidden vision risks in preemies?

NCT ID NCT07586683

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study uses a special eye scan (OCT angiography) to look at blood vessel development in the retinas of children born very prematurely (at or before 28 weeks) compared to those born full-term. The goal is to see if premature birth and related lung problems affect eye blood vessels, which might explain vision issues later in life. About 56 children aged 5 to 15 will participate, and the scan is quick, painless, and requires no injections.
