Free healthy meals and coaching aim to boost diet quality in anson county
NCT ID NCT07126587
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether providing healthy frozen meals, produce boxes, and nutrition counseling helps adults in Anson County eat better compared to those who only get physical activity coaching. About 120 participants with or at risk for chronic diseases like obesity, diabetes, or heart disease will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. The main goal is to see if the meal delivery group improves their diet quality score more than the physical activity group.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Nutrition education and food delivery (healthy frozen meals and produce boxes) and physical activity counseling
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that providing healthy meals and education helps people eat better, potentially reducing the risk of chronic diseases like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study in one county, so results may not apply to other populations. Diet changes may not be sustained long-term, and the study does not directly measure disease outcomes.
