Can a cholesterol drug shrink artery plaque in diabetes patients?

NCT ID NCT05365425

First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether choline fenofibrate can reduce plaque buildup in the carotid arteries of people with type 2 diabetes and mixed high cholesterol. About 56 participants will receive either choline fenofibrate or a comparison drug (policosanol) for several months. The main goal is to see if the drug slows or reduces artery thickening, which could lower the risk of heart attack or stroke.
