Can new drug combos outsmart PARP resistance in BRCA breast cancer?
NCT ID NCT04090567
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 21, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests whether adding cediranib or ceralasertib to olaparib can overcome resistance in BRCA-mutated advanced breast cancer. About 60 participants with HER2-negative, BRCA-positive tumors that have progressed on prior therapy will receive one of the two drug combinations. The main goal is to see if tumors shrink, with secondary focus on how long progression is delayed.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Olaparib combined with either cediranib or ceralasertib
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer new treatment options for people with BRCA-mutated advanced breast cancer whose tumors have stopped responding to standard PARP inhibitors.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug combinations may cause side effects or fail to shrink tumors in many patients.
