First seen Nov 12, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study tested whether a home-based physical activity program, delivered by mail and phone without in-person visits, could help older women reduce their risk of heart attacks, strokes, broken bones, and falls. About 50,000 women already in the Women's Health Initiative took part. The program provided exercise guides, goal-setting tools, and motivational tips to encourage regular activity.
