Frequent Finger-Prick tests could make blood thinners safer for nursing home seniors
NCT ID NCT05561244
First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tested whether checking blood thinning levels every week with a simple finger-prick device is better than the usual monthly blood draw for elderly nursing home residents. The goal was to keep their blood thinner levels in a safe range and reduce the risk of dangerous clots or bleeding. The study was stopped early, but it aimed to find a more convenient and effective way to monitor these frail patients.
