NCT ID NCT07028788

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a mobile app or virtual reality program that teaches mindfulness and breathing exercises can lower stress, burnout, and improve sleep and thinking in nurses who work rotating shifts. 300 nurses will be split into four groups: one gets health education only, others get mindfulness training with or without breathing exercises, delivered via phone or VR. They will practice 10 minutes a day, five times a week, for 8 weeks.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, accessible way for shift workers to manage stress and improve sleep without medication.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with no blinding, so results may be influenced by placebo effects. The intervention requires regular practice, which may be hard to maintain.
