New PET scan slashes radiation 100-Fold for Alzheimer's detection

NCT ID NCT07012993

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a new, ultra-low dose PET scan that uses 10 to 100 times less radiation than current methods to detect Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Researchers will give 200 adults (including healthy volunteers) a radioactive tracer and use a high-sensitivity scanner to see if they can still get clear images with much less radiation. The goal is to make brain imaging safer for patients while maintaining accuracy.
