New obesity drug aims to shed pounds and stop diabetes in its tracks

Summary
This study tests a once-weekly medicine called tirzepatide in 3000 adults with obesity (but not diabetes) to see how much weight they lose and whether it prevents type 2 diabetes. Participants will be followed for about 5 years in real-world clinics. The medicine is compared to standard care like diet and exercise advice.
