Food supplements that curb appetite show promise in small study
NCT ID NCT07448519
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether special food supplement capsules that release nutrients in the lower gut can increase appetite-regulating hormones and reduce food intake. Twenty adults with obesity took either the active supplement or a placebo on two separate days. The supplement increased levels of hormones that signal fullness and reduced calorie intake at lunch in female participants.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Colonic-delivered DIM and Perilla oil
What this could lead to
If it works, this could lead to a natural supplement that helps control appetite and reduce calorie intake in people with obesity.
What could go wrong
This was a small, early study with only 20 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The supplement only showed effects in female volunteers, and long-term safety and effectiveness are not yet known.
