New hope for glioblastoma? drug combo trial launches

NCT ID NCT07326566

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This phase 2 trial tests whether adding silevertinib, an oral drug that targets a specific protein (EGFR), to standard chemotherapy (temozolomide) helps people with a newly diagnosed, aggressive brain cancer called glioblastoma. The study includes 162 participants whose tumors have certain genetic markers (unmethylated MGMT and EGFRvIII). The goal is to see if the combination improves how long people live without their cancer getting worse compared to chemotherapy alone.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

silevertinib (also called BDTX-1535) combined with temozolomide (Temodar)

What this could lead to

If it works, this combination could slow or stop glioblastoma growth better than current standard treatment, potentially extending life without progression.

What could go wrong

This is a phase 2 trial with only 162 people, so results are preliminary. The drug may not improve outcomes and could cause side effects like those from other EGFR inhibitors.

Conditions

The condition(s) this trial relates to.
