Summary
This study aimed to better understand why some people get very sick from H1N1 flu. Researchers analyzed fluid from the lungs of 30 patients who were so ill they needed a ventilator in the intensive care unit. By studying the virus and the body's immune response in the lungs, they hoped to find clues to improve future care for severe flu cases.
