Texting your doctor: a new way to tame IBD?
NCT ID NCT06424769
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looks at whether regular text message check-ins and the ability to text your IBD care team can improve disease management and quality of life. About 900 people with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis will take part. Some will get extra symptom surveys and texting access, while others only receive educational texts. The goal is to see if better communication leads to more empowered patients and fewer flare-ups.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
text-based symptom monitoring and communication
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that simple text messaging tools help IBD patients manage their condition better and reduce hospital visits.
What could go wrong
This is an observational-style trial without a new drug or treatment. The improvements may be small or not apply to all patients. Text-based care may not work for everyone.
Conditions
