Custom-Made stent grafts offer hope for High-Risk aneurysm patients

NCT ID NCT04746677

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a special stent graft that doctors modify by hand to treat complex aortic aneurysms and dissections in patients who are too high-risk for standard surgery or devices. About 220 participants will be followed for up to 5 years to see if the procedure is safe and effective. The goal is to offer a less invasive option for those with few alternatives.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

physician-modified endovascular graft (PMEG)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a safer, less invasive treatment option for high-risk patients with complex aortic aneurysms or dissections who cannot use standard devices.

What could go wrong

This is a single-center trial with no control group, so results may not apply broadly. Risks include stroke, kidney failure, paralysis, and other serious complications.
