NCT ID NCT06186843
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether switching to a plant-based diet can improve heart health and reduce inflammation in people who have had a kidney transplant. Twenty-five participants who are at least three months post-transplant will follow a plant-based diet for 16 weeks after a two-week training program. Researchers will track changes in blood markers, weight, blood pressure, and quality of life to see if the diet is feasible and beneficial.

- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could show that a plant-based diet helps manage heart health and inflammation in kidney transplant recipients, potentially reducing complications.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early feasibility study with only 25 participants and no control group. Results may not apply to all transplant patients, and dietary changes can be hard to maintain.
