Electric brain zaps may cut seizures in drug-resistant epilepsy

NCT ID NCT04782869

First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026

Summary

This pilot study tested a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called tDCS in 17 people with drug-resistant epilepsy. The stimulation was personalized based on each patient's seizure zone, previously mapped with brain electrodes. Researchers measured changes in seizure frequency and brain activity to see if this approach could help control seizures without surgery.
