Could a simple algorithm help doctors write better exercise prescriptions?

NCT ID NCT07238556

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a new digital tool called P3-EX that helps doctors create personalized exercise plans for patients with heart disease risk factors like high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity. Researchers will recruit 24 doctors and 48 patients to compare the new tool with a standard exercise questionnaire. The goal is to see if doctors find the tool easy to use and if patients stick with their exercise program and show improvements in their health.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

personalized exercise prescription (P3-EX algorithm)

What this could lead to

If successful, this tool could help doctors easily prescribe safe, effective exercise plans tailored to each patient, potentially improving heart health and reducing risk factors.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early feasibility study (72 participants) testing a digital tool, not a treatment itself. It may not show clear health benefits, and results may not apply to all patients or settings.
