First seen Mar 09, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at how different levels of breathing support (PEEP) affect blood flow congestion in the veins of patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Researchers will use ultrasound to check vein congestion in the liver, kidneys, and portal system at high and low PEEP settings. The goal is to understand how ventilator pressure impacts organ function, helping doctors choose safer settings in the future. The study involves 30 adults on ventilators in intensive care.
