New pain block technique may cut opioid use after knee surgery

Summary

This study tested two different nerve block methods to control pain after total knee replacement surgery. Sixty older adults (ages 65-100) received either a two-level erector spinae block or an iPack with ACB block. The main goal was to see which method reduced the need for opioid painkillers in the first 48 hours after surgery.
