NCT ID NCT07563907

First seen May 21, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether adding a short course of chemotherapy (capecitabine) after standard chemoradiation but before a minor surgery (local excision) improves outcomes for people with stage I rectal cancer. About 292 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either standard treatment or standard treatment plus the extra chemo. The main goal is to see if the extra chemo leads to a complete disappearance of the tumor, while also monitoring side effects and quality of life.
