NCT ID NCT02583646
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study looks at whether overweight girls start puberty earlier than normal-weight girls. Researchers will use breast and pelvic ultrasounds, blood and urine tests, and X-rays to measure body fat and bone maturity. The goal is to understand if early breast development in overweight girls is due to true puberty or just fatty tissue. The study involves 150 girls ages 8-14 who have not yet had their first period.
