Blood test breakthrough could end painful liver biopsies for NASH patients
NCT ID NCT07502755
First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing whether two markers in the blood, PLIN2 and RAB14, can accurately diagnose non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and advanced liver scarring. Researchers will analyze blood samples from 828 people with NASH, type 2 diabetes, or obesity. If successful, this approach could offer a simpler, less invasive way to detect and monitor the disease compared to current methods like liver biopsy.
