CPAP not enough? study checks hidden breathing trouble in obese sleep apnea patients
NCT ID NCT07152990
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will check how common it is for obese people with sleep apnea to still have low breathing at night even when using a CPAP machine. About 139 adults will wear a special skin sensor that measures oxygen and carbon dioxide levels overnight. The goal is to find out how many people need additional treatment for this hidden breathing problem.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors identify which obese sleep apnea patients need extra breathing support beyond CPAP.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It only measures a problem without testing any new therapy, so it won't directly improve health.
