Brain cancer breakthrough? direct drug infusion shows promise in new trial

NCT ID NCT05271240

First seen Jun 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This phase 3 trial tests whether delivering the drug Avastin directly into the brain's arteries (called SIACI) alongside standard chemotherapy and radiation can help people with newly diagnosed glioblastoma live longer. About 432 adults with this aggressive brain cancer will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard treatment or standard treatment plus repeated SIACI infusions. Early results suggest this approach may nearly double survival time, but long-term disease control is the goal, not a cure.
