New drug tested for relief of severe arthritis pain

Summary
This study tested whether a drug called MT-5547 could better reduce pain and improve daily movement in people with knee or hip osteoarthritis compared to a placebo (inactive treatment). Over 600 Japanese participants with moderate to severe pain took the drug or a placebo for 16 weeks. The main goal was to see if MT-5547 was more effective at easing pain, measured by a standard arthritis questionnaire.
