First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at the brains of 45 pregnant women with opioid use disorder (OUD) who were taking medication therapy, compared to pregnant women without OUD. Researchers used MRI scans to see if OUD and the medication change how different brain regions connect. The goal was to learn more about how the body processes the medication during pregnancy and how to improve outcomes for mothers and newborns.
