Summary

This phase 2 trial tests whether LY3549492, an oral tablet, helps adults who are overweight or obese and have type 2 diabetes lose weight. Participants receive either LY3549492 or a placebo for about 11 months. Researchers measure changes in body weight and the percentage of people who achieve at least a 5% weight reduction. The study aims to see if this drug can offer a new weight management option for this population.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
LY3549492 tablets
What this could lead to
If it works, LY3549492 could become a new oral option for weight loss in people with type 2 diabetes, potentially improving blood sugar control and reducing obesity-related health risks.
What could go wrong
This is an early phase 2 study with a small number of participants, so results may not hold up in larger trials. The drug may cause side effects or fail to show meaningful weight loss compared to placebo.
