New ultrasound method could prevent lung injury in obese patients on ventilators
NCT ID NCT07542093
First seen Apr 21, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a bedside lung ultrasound can help doctors monitor and treat lung collapse in obese patients on breathing machines. About 45 adults with a BMI of 33 or higher will have their lungs scanned before, during, and after a standard lung-opening procedure. The goal is to see if ultrasound can guide the exact pressure needed to keep lungs open and improve oxygen levels.
