Summary
This trial tests whether adding laser therapy to standard gum surgery improves treatment of advanced periodontitis. Adults with stage I to III periodontitis who still have deep pockets after initial non-surgical care will receive open flap debridement, a procedure that lifts the gums to clean infected root surfaces. Half will get standard manual and ultrasonic cleaning, while the other half will also receive laser decontamination. Researchers will measure changes in pocket depth and bleeding after three months to see if the laser adds benefit.
