First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated Jun 08, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tested whether taking a daily drink with lactoferrin, a protein found in milk, could help prevent iron deficiency anemia in pregnant women with obesity. 23 women at risk for anemia took part from mid-pregnancy through labor. The main goal was to see if this approach was practical and acceptable, while also checking for effects on iron levels and inflammation.
